The children were recovered near the Sabarmati riverbank on 5 Jul 2008. Bite marks were reported in post-mortem notes, and the deaths became a lasting public-interest reference point in Gujarat.
Justice D.K. Trivedi commission was constituted by the Gujarat government after the Motera child deaths. Reports later described multi-year delay and allegations that portions of the findings were never fully surfaced in public discourse.

Surat sessions court convicted Narayan Sai on 26 Apr 2019 for rape and unlawful offences against the younger of the two Surat sisters whose elder sister was assaulted by Asaram.
