Other, Asaram witness attacks / planned bombing
Buldhana, Maharashtra
“Kishan Chaudhary (alias Nirbhaya) was an associate of hitman Tamraj who allegedly planned a bomb attack at an anti-Asaram rally in Maharashtra. Chaudhary was found dead under mysterious circumstances a day before the scheduled attack.”
Kishan Chaudhary, known within the follower network as Nirbhaya, was a radical devotee of Asaram Bapu who operated as part of the covert hit squad led by Tamradhwaj Sahu (Tamraj). Following Asaram's arrest in 2013, Chaudhary was recruited to carry out violent acts against organizations and individuals campaigning against the godman, participating in the acquisition of illegal weapons and explosives.
In late 2014, Chaudhary and Tamraj planned a bomb attack at a public meeting organized by anti-superstition activists against Asaram Bapu and Narayan Sai in Buldhana, Maharashtra. The conspiracy involved planting explosives under the main dais to assassinate the speakers and disperse the crowd. The plot represented a shift from targeting individual witnesses to executing large-scale acts of violence to protect the cult's reputation.
However, the bombing plot was never executed. On the day before the scheduled rally, Kishan Chaudhary was found dead under mysterious circumstances along with another associate, Bhanu, in a local facility. The local police initially investigated the deaths as accidental poisoning or suicide, though subsequent disclosures during the interrogation of Tamraj in 2025 suggested that the deaths may have been related to internal conflicts or operational accidents within the hit squad.
Chaudhary's death led to the abandonment of the Buldhana bombing conspiracy, preventing potential mass casualties. His involvement in the hit squad remains a significant detail in the police files, illustrating the extreme level of radicalization among Asaram's dedicated followers. He is recorded in the case files as a deceased co-conspirator in the multi-state witness intimidation campaign.
Is the underlying deposition available in redacted form? Useful for cross-referencing with the 2025 appeal.
Thank you for keeping this on the record despite the intimidation history around the case.
